Getting in early.
A few clients have recently asked about updating their new website while the old one is still seen on the ‘net.
This can be done in a few ways.
Each site has the direct URL for the site (www.mouseinthehouse.com.au) but also it has a special link to the ‘server’ that the site is sitting on.
This link is either the IP or the server name and account name, eg; http://rs-node1-mel.hosting-services.net.au/~demo or http://202.45.153.20/~demo (not a real site).
Account owners can log in and make changes to their setup or redesign their new sites whilst the public/customers can not see anything new.
This is very handy and often overlooked when trying to ‘look big’ on the internet.
Once the changes are made and the new site is to go live it’s fairly easy to change the name servers to point at the real refreshed website.
Ask me for more info on this and I’d be happy to run through it with you.
or try http://112.140.176.60/~demo
